Best tourist attractions in Australia

Australia is and has been the land of dreams and opportunities for many since the first Aborigines arrived in these lands more than 50,000 years ago. In addition, Australia is the smallest continent and the largest island on planet Earth, with an area similar to that of the United States of America but with a population similar to that of New York. On the other hand, Australia is home to some of the most extravagant wild animal species that we can find on our planet.
For example, along the coast we can explore vibrant cities with great multi-cultural wealth, we can go on a safari through the vast islands of sand, trek through its ancient rain forests or dive in the Great Barrier Reef. Inland (or Outback as they call it in Australia) we can explore its national parks and red sand deserts if we want it is an adventure trip.

In addition to landscapes, cities, monuments and activities of all kinds, in Australia we will find a very relaxed atmosphere and a very friendly population that will make us enjoy even more our experience in Down Under Earth as it is known in the Anglo-world. Saxon. With all this, it is not surprising that Australia is one of the best valued destinations worldwide.

Take a look at the top  tourist attractions we recommend visiting when traveling to Australia and note that you probably need a Visa to travel to Australia.

1. The Opera House in Sydney or Sydney Opera House

Many of us associate "Sydney in Australia" with the Opera House, that iconic building designed by the Danish Jørn Utzon in Bennelong Point, next to the Sydney Botanical Gardens, surrounded by water in almost its entirety and whose hallmark is the huge white shells covered by 1,056 million Swedish-made bright white and cream tiles that form its roof.
Visitors can enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants or take a tour of the building, which includes theaters, studios, a concert hall, exhibition halls and a cinema.
One of the best places to take pictures of the Opera House is Mrs Macquarie's Chair in the Royal Botanic Gardens or aboard one of the cruise ships that sail the bay. From our experience we can say that the views of this World Heritage building are more impressive from afar.

2. The Sydney Harbor Bridge or Sydney Harbor Bridge

Along with the Opera House, the Sydney Harbor Bridge, or "Coathanger" as it is affectionately known, it is one of Australia's most famous icons and a must-see when passing through Sydney. The Sydney Harbor Bridge is the largest steel arch bridge in the world with a height of 134 meters above the bay.
One of the main activities you can do when visiting Sydney is a guided ascent to the highest part of the bridge from where you will enjoy spectacular views of the bay and the city. As an interesting fact we can tell you that Paul Hogan, the actor who appears in the Crocodile Dundee saga, worked as a painter on the bridge before jumping to world fame.

3. The Great Barrier Reef

Visible from outer space and World Heritage, The Great Barrier Reef is one of the largest living structures on the planet. In 1975 the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park was created to protect this fragile ecosystem that includes more than 3,000 coral reefs, 600 continental islands - among which we find the incredible Whitsunday group, 300 coral cays and much more that make La Gran Barrier Reef one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.
The park stretches for more than 2,300 kilometers throughout the state of Queensland, on the east coast of Australia, and is a spectacular site for snorkelling and diving. The enormous variety of marine life includes hard and soft corals, more than 1,600 species of tropical fish, sharks, dolphins, turtles, rays, giant clams ... Although if you are one of those who prefer to be dry, you can enjoy the barrier from the water observation stations, the glass bottom boats that you can take from Cairns, Port Douglas and Airlie Beach or aboard one of the panoramic flights that you will find available.

4. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park or Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

The huge red rock of Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock) is probably the most recognizable and most photographed landscape in Australia, in addition to being an extremely sacred place for the Anangu tribe aborigines who live here since for them it is a place that it concentrates great energy, it is the center of the universe and the home of Mother Earth.

According to them, any visitor to this place will receive spiritual visions since Ulruru is considered one of the energy points on Earth and many people make a pilgrimage each year to this part of the planet to align the Solar Plexus Chakra or Manipura Chakra, the third Chakra that is in the stomach, just above the navel, and that is related to personal power and ego, self-confidence and the ability to have self-control and humor.

Uluru means "sober or dark place" in the local Aboriginal dialect, it rises 348 meters above the ground, but most of this rock is underground and its perimeter is 16 kilometers and you can walk around it through a path enabled for it.
This plateau is also known as Tiukurpa, which means "dream time" by the aborigines. The paintings in the surrounding caves are said to be stories of the "Dreamtime" left by the ancient tribes.

We recommend you see the samples of Aboriginal rock art of more than 10,000 years old that you will find in small caves located on the outskirts of Uluru.

They are considered national treasures and Uluru itself is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Although you can climb to the top of the rock and see its magical views, doing so is a point of controversy between the aborigines who live in the area and the service that manages the National Park. For this reason, tourists are not recommended to go up.

In the park we can also find the red dome-shaped rocks called Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). As the sun fades to the horizon, visitors gather to watch Uluru and Kata Tjuta transform into the changing light.

A great way to appreciate these sacred structures is to join one of the tours with Aboriginal guides and learn about the ancient traditions and stories of "Dreamtime" on foot, from the sky by helicopter or hot air balloon, on a Harley Davidson motorcycle or riding on a camel. You choose!
