California sunsets are always magical

Gas-lamp, San Diego's historic nightlife district:

In the heart of San Diego Downtown, Gas lamp represents the center of the Californian city's nightlife.

Pubs and restaurants are concentrated between Fourth Ave and Sixth Ave, where they meet Market Street.

At the time of our visit (November 2021) the atmosphere was a bit subdued, but the food and wine offer here is so vast that it is impossible not to find the right place to spend the evening.

Gaslamp, however, does not stop there, it is not only nightlife, but also a historic district, where Victorian-style buildings, theaters, art galleries and a famous baseball field are concentrated.

The Balboa Theater, built in 1924, offers a rich program of theatrical events, while the Theater Box is ideal for watching the latest Hollywood film to be released.

For baseball lovers, but also just for those who are curious to attend one of the most loved sporting events by Americans, Petco Park is the right place. It is the home of the Padres, the baseball team of the city of San Diego.

What to see in San Diego: the street art of Chicano Park:

A national monument since 2016, Chicano Park in San Diego's Barrio Logan is the largest outdoor mural art space in the United States.

The history of this park tells of the complicated integration of the Mexican community in the 70s in the city, when many people risked jail just to try to get a green space for their neighborhood.

In those years, Barrio Logan was rapidly expanding and the construction of the connecting bridge between San Diego and Coronado effectively cut the neighborhood in two.

On the day when World Earth Day was celebrated, the occupation of the area began and lasted 12 days.

The struggle led to the recognition by the city of San Diego of the green area requested by the inhabitants of Barrio Logan, who soon moved to give color to their community space.

First local artists, then of international caliber, made Chicano Park what it is today: an American national monument. For Visa https://www.aecglobal.com.au/
