CBP stands for Customs and Border Protection while Global Entry describes the name of the program. With this program, people classified as harmless can get through the immigration formalities more quickly on arrival in the USA under certain conditions with a passport and fingerprint scan. In order to be admitted to the CBP Global Entry Program, you must undergo a separate examination in which your personality is assessed and it is assessed whether you meet the requirements.

What is the Visa Waiver Program via the Electronic System of Travel Authorization?


The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) includes 38 countries. With this program, it is possible for German, Swiss and Austrian citizens (who do NOT only have a permanent residence permit) to travel to the USA from their home country as a tourist for a period of up to 90 days without having to apply for a tourist visa . In order to take part in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) as a traveler and to enter from your home country with the entry permit without a visa, you must apply for an ESTA in advance. 1. What does a visa cost?

2. How long does an interview last?



The actual interview as part of the application process is only a short conversation lasting around five to ten minutes. Due to the waiting times, you as the applicant can spend three to five hours at the consulate despite having made an appointment in advance.

3. How long does my passport have to be valid for?


The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the planned date for leaving the USA.

4. What is the fee for an ESTA application?


The fee is currently $ 14, with no refund of $ 10.

5. What can I do if the passport containing the visa has expired but the visa itself is still valid?


 
You can travel with both passes. The expired one, which contains the valid visa, and additionally the new, valid passport.

6. Can the visa be extended once I have received approval?


No, this is not possible. No visa can be extended, regardless of whether it is a student visa, tourist visa, transit visa, work visa or visa for athletes. You always have to apply for a new visa from the competent authority and go through the application process again step by step. Exceptions to the rule are not possible.

7. What do I do if my visa expires before my planned departure during my stay in the USA?

8. Does the visa allow you to enter the USA?
